“Recently, I had the honour of being on Nicole's podcast. https://open.spotify.com/episode/5VdfDDrhFVgHXZWSqbAoYm?si=b2979d1f97214efd As someone who has been podcasting for over 11 years now, I found Nicole a breathe of authentic air. She was generous to her guest, passionate about conversation and truly wanted to get the best for her audience. This is a show to tune into weekly and if you have the privilege to be her guest, be honoured to do so.”

What are the most effective ways to research your target audience before a speech?
Send a survey out to your target audience with top questions you have related to your topic at least several weeks before your speech. This is a great way to gain insights from your audience that can help make sure your talk resonates with them. I like to ask 5-7 of the top questions I have on the topic and set it up in a survey tool like Survey Monkey. Promote the survey on your social channels and email channel several times and include an incentive to encourage participation. Use the data in your speech and draw insights from that data to help drive your points home and inspire action from the audience.

What are effective strategies to handle a team member not receptive to feedback?
Start by acknowledging that the feedback is being given because you believe in them and their potential and have high expectations you know they are capable of reaching. This sets the tone for any feedback that follows. Then, start with actual examples/facts of a given situation that needs improvement and state your expectations clearly. Ask them how they think they can improve in that area and invite discussion.

You have to give a presentation but your audience is disengaged. How can you make them care?
Starting the presentation with a story that you can use as an analogy through out your talk gets people hooked right away. If you can, Using a personal story will make your presentation even more memorable. Stories bring your facts and insights and data to life. Make sure the story highlights the pain or challenges your audience may be experiencing so they can relate to it. People likely won't remember the data on your slides but they will remember your stories and how you made them feel when coupled with data/insights. This is what inspires people to act and change.
